What Length Handle Screw Do I Need?
So, you have picked out the perfect cabinet handle. And you are now not sure what handle screw length you need to perfectly install your handles. Read on to learn how to find the perfect length for your cabinets & cabinet handles.
The first thing to note is the thickness of your cupboard or drawer front. As this will be what determines the length you need as the screw will be travelling through there before it hits the handle! Do this by using a ruler or calipers and measuring the cupboard or drawer front thickness. You then need to add on an extra 5mm of length onto the screw for screwing in the handle itself.
A few things to watch out for:
Are your cupboards or drawer fronts recessed at all? Refer to the below picture:

If your drawer or cupboard fronts are recessed, and you are planning on placing your handles in that section, be careful to ensure you are measuring an accurate cabinet thickness for where the handles will actually be placed.
To do this, first use a ruler or caliper on the side of your drawer or cabinet front to determine the overall thickness.
Note that down.
Next, measure the recessed depth of your fronts. To do this, hold your ruler against the edge of the recessed section of the cabinet, and measure the distance to the outermost part of the drawer. Refer to the illustration below for help.
Now for some math's. Subtract the recessed depth from the overall thickness, and there you have the thickness of the drawer that the handle screw will need to travel!
Once that is done, add an extra 5mm for the handle itself to the length, and there you have it! You can click through to our handle screws, and make your purchase.
Not the exact length available in our handle screws?
That is totally ok. It does not have to be to the exact millimeter! Round to the closest screw length available. There is an extra margin in each handle for a slightly longer screw.
